KARACHI: Panic spread across Karachi’s Gulistan-e-Jauhar on Saturday after reports of intense firing and a loud explosion near Block 6. The incident prompted a swift response from police and other law enforcement agencies, and authorities launched an investigation to determine what happened.
Police Launch Investigation in Karachi’s Gulistan-e-Jauhar
According to police, security personnel were immediately sent to the area after receiving reports of heavy gunfire and an explosion near Mosmiyat Chowrangi. Officials quickly reached the scene and began securing the area to ensure public safety.
Following the incident, traffic was disrupted as authorities closed several major roads in the area. The road connecting Mosmiyat Chowrangi to Gulistan-e-Jauhar Block 6 and Kamran Chowrangi was temporarily blocked to prevent public movement while security teams carried out their operations.
Police also confirmed that the road linking Mosmiyat Chowrangi with Chaman Iqbal Colony was closed. The restrictions were put in place to help emergency teams work without interruption and to keep residents away from the affected area.
Sindh CM Seeks Report on Karachi’s Gulistan-e-Jauhar Incident
Soon after the reports emerged, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah took notice of the situation. According to a spokesperson for the Chief Minister, the Chief Minister directed the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Sindh, and the Additional Inspector General (AIG), Karachi, to submit a detailed report on the incident.
The Chief Minister instructed senior officials to investigate the circumstances surrounding the firing and explosion and provide complete information as soon as possible. Authorities have not yet confirmed the exact cause of the incident.
Sindh Home Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar also responded by seeking an immediate report from the Karachi AIG. He asked law enforcement officials to share the latest findings and ensure that all necessary security measures were in place.
As of now, officials have not released information about any casualties, injuries, or arrests related to the incident. Police are continuing their investigation and are collecting evidence from the scene to determine what triggered the firing and explosion.
